WKRG/FAIRHOPE, AL (WKRG) — Rescue Dog Red is a non-profit organization that allows people to adopt pets. The Fairhope Brewery is working with the neighborhood humane society once more. Anyone who has rescued a dog can enter a sweepstakes for $5 to determine whose dog will appear on the front of a beer can.

The brewery’s managing officer, Jim Foley, who has two rescue dogs of his own, said this contest was difficult to judge.
We have a winner; his name is Forest; he lives in Daphne; he is a wonderful, adorable specimen; and this year, he is on the front of all of our cans.

Ten years ago, Fairhope Brewery employees decided to organize a charity event to support local animals.
Because dogs are truly our greatest friends, Foley said, “it was something we could all rally around and just support a cause that we all genuinely think is important.”
The brewery will have an adoption event on October 30 in addition to selling the Red Dog Rescue IPA beer with Forest’s image on it. When someone purchases one of the cans, they are doing it for a good cause.

Good news! The brewery is partnering with several Humane Societies and dog rescues this weekend. It’s an event like you’ve never seen before, a beer tasting crawl that features the best dog rescues in town. If you’re an animal lover who enjoys beer, this is your chance to visit all these rescue groups you’ve heard of — plus more. It’s a charity event where there will be lots of great swag available for purchase, too — including apparel from your favorite local breweries and dog care products from companies like Pawsome Pet Care Systems .

The beer that Forest will be on the label of is called “Rescue Dog Red” and has a taste similar to a hoppy red ale.

A few weeks ago, a handful of local breweries joined with Humane Societies in the Blue Ridge Mountains to raise awareness for homeless dogs. The event was called the “Rescue Dog Red” and featured Dogfish Head Brewery’s new brew, Rescue Dog Red, on tap at each location.

The first keg of the Rescue Dog Red Beer was tapped at 5:00 p.m. Friday, but events will continue through the weekend from 10am to 10pm.

This is the brewery’s 3rd year hosting this event and Foley said they will continue to do it as long as people ask them to.
